Their weekly karaoke night is where the singer in you can unleash your inner diva.

Salty Nun

2501 Central Avenue

Calling all the ladies! I highly recommend you check out:

Mari Jean Hotel – All Adults Welcome

This could easily be the best outright gay hotel that I have ever stayed at.

I use the term outright because there is nothing subtle about the Mari Jean Hotel.

I highly recommend the steak here and this was the second place I found a winner when it came to the dessert – make sure you order the fried plantains in caramel, it was delicious!

Visiting St. Pete in December has given me a taste and I am definitely keen to experience more. the “gayborhood.” It’s here you find most of the gay and gay-friendly bars in the city.

In particular take a look at:

The Back Room by ZaZoo’d

This is the gay owned and gay shop housed inside the Mari Jean Hotel. A  mix between an off-leash dog park and a full-service bar, it includes areas for both high-energy play and chill time for low-energy pups. It’s also the perfect bar to visit to avoid downtown St.

Pete.

Fun After the Sun in St. Pete’s Gay Bars

When the sun goes down, the gay nightlife in St. Petersburg heats up in the gay bars, clubs, and lounges where the LGBTQ+ community can kick back with a drink or dance the night away. You can hang out outside at The Wet Spot or go indoors to COCKtail bar.

COCKtail bar runs events nightly throughout the week, from talent nights, to bingo and drag shows, you can be confident that you are going to entertained and on the weekend, have a full dancefloor.

And best of all, no cover charge!

The Wet Spot

As mentioned above, this is all connected but with The Wet Spot, you can also visit in the afternoon and buy a day pass to chill by the pool and hang out at the bar (no pass needed for Mari Jean Hotel guests).

On the third Sunday of each month The Wet Spot hosts a drag brunch which then runs into a T Dance later on in the afternoon/early evening – again, it felt like this was the place to be on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Enigma

Very much akin to COCKtail in the sense that you can come here to drink, dance and watch a good drag show.

I visited early on Friday evening and the bar was very busy, with a few queens performing and getting some audience participation which was very entertaining to watch!

Then LuvHer Lounge also hosts LuvHer Sober events for an alcohol-free social setting.

Enigma

1110 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg

Located in St. Pete’s EDGE District, Enigma is a hot spot for St. Pete’s gay community.   We hope you will explore the Greater St. Petersburg Area. Kind of like Cheers, where everybody knows your name, but there’s a good chance you can meet someone new.

The Wet Spot is where you can enjoy the sun, lay by the pool, go for a swim, have lunch and cocktails, or just enjoy the “scenery” and a beverage delivered by speedo-clad servers.

Planning to continue the party once you get home? Nearby communities such as Gulfport, Dunedin and Safety Harbor also provide a welcoming community on a smaller scale.

The price ranges and styles differ greatly. For a truly unique experience, put a visit to The Saint on your list of things to do in St. Pete.

Pour Judgement

269 Central Avenue

Making waves as Tampa Bay’s first craft shot bar, Pour Judgement is a blend of upscale craft cocktail bar vibes and the laid-back feel of a Florida dive.

We hope that nobody experiences discrimination or homophobia while visiting Florida and beyond, but we make no guarantees. With year-round sun and a slow pace of life, St Petersburg is the perfect destination to relax and recharge. Concrete Jungle is a very stylish Tulum inspired restaurant with a club/bar space downstairs. Open every night, it’s got something for everyone.

If you take yourself too seriously, this may not be for you!

My favourite aspect about the Mari Jean was that for any gay traveller, this was a great one stop shop option as the property houses COCKtail bar (the most popular gay bar in St. Pete), The Wet Spot pool area and pool bar (which does a drag brunch once a month), a gay shop called The Back Door and also a second bar called The Saint.

The Grand Central District is an urban village in the heart of St. Petersburg and home to many LGBT businesses and the annual St. Pete Pride Celebration in June and Come OUT St Pete in October. Pete is home to many beaches, including the award-winning St. Pete beach famed for its wide stretches of white sand.

Spend the day here and grab lunch at Crabbys (mentioned below).

Morean Arts Center – Glass Blowing Experience

I surprised myself here as I unexpectedly loved this experience!

The Arts Centre itself is home to a huge collection of glass art and second to a glass blowing workshop and viewing area.

They have scheduled glass art creation viewing sessions, but the main attraction here is being able to book and take part in creating your own glass art masterpiece.

The result?

Pete Pride is huge and has been celebrated for over 20 years with over 300,000 people attending last year’s parade alone!

The team at St. Pete Pride run events year-round, with things ramping up in June culminating in their main pride weekend normally at the end of June.

Pete Pride.

Winter Pride St. Pete

Watch this space!

St. They are intelligent animals and I am told they recognise the noise the engine and as a result (and as I saw) they come swimming up alongside the boat to play!

Book the last sailing of the day to enjoy some sunset views of St. Pete upon return.

St.

Decorated with most things you find in a garage like diecast cars and license plates, it’s where you can go to shoot pool, throw darts, watch a game, or just hang out with your friends.
