Excellent quality every time. Lunch specials will change daily with BBQ chicken, lasagna, spaghetti, shepherd’s pie and fish on the top of the list. After months of waiting for permits, working on the remodeling, and giving the building a thorough cleaning, Gay’s Seafood & Deli is set to open soon in a new location at 1021 North Washington Street, close to the Bypass and Rt.

50 in Easton.

The former site of the Old Mill Deli is about 4,000 square feet in size and, according to Rennie, “You can’t beat the location!”

Gay’s Seafood has been a family-owned business since 1915 and has always been located on the water at 896 Port Street. Next time she can mention that the local crab shack has now evolved to be Gay’s Seafood & Deli on North Washington Street in Easton.

Rennie is planning to be open daily with the Deli side opening at 6 a.m.

Unfortunately I can't travel for even longer. My very good friend n her son we're at the beach enjoying time away. Gearing up for Labor Day weekend, I called 34 crab houses to get an idea of the average price for steamed crabs in the Baltimore area, updating a project my predecessors on The Sun’s data team had published back in 2016.

The first question was for the project, which used large male crabs as the comparison point.

Rennie grew up on the water and in the fields hunting, and he continues operating Tidewater Guide Service, which he says is very busy during the hunting season, especially with deer hunting. I will continue to go here for eternity! I love the real deal-- Gay's is IT !

“If you eat the female, you’re losing all of that reproductive potential,” he said.

Lest you feel morally superior for only eating males, keep in mind that the crab in crab cakes, crab dips and other products containing lump crab meat usually comes from female crabs. She knew about my wish and stopped at many places n the only place with good reviews is Gays.

for breakfast, and the Seafood side will be open from 10 a.m. Thank you guys at Gay's, I will see you in the next 2-3 weeks! to 6 p.m. “We think it’s a better crab.”

If the numbers from my not-so-scientific survey are any indication, the local market agrees.

Among the 20 places I called that sold both genders, female crabs by the dozen were priced at between 51 and 85 cents to the dollar, compared to males.

Even among our crustacean counterparts, the gender gap is real.

There are reasons for this disparity.

Only three places I called said they usually sold more females than males. Rennie’s daughter, Heather, will have a big role in the new business, too, helping wherever she’s needed.

The Deli plans to offer full breakfasts, including omelets, French toast, eggs, breakfast burritos, ham, bacon, sausage and Eastern Shore scrapple, and more.

The gentleman was just opening n not set up but after hearing my story he got her crabs, plus $5 off, plus added some things for free.
